The mean, median, and mode are three different ways to summarize a set of numbers with a single value. The mean is the arithmetic average, the median is the middle value when the numbers are sorted, and the mode is the value that appears most often.
Each one tells you something different about the data. The mean is sensitive to every value, the median resists outliers, and the mode shows what is most common.
The mean adds all the values together and divides by how many values there are. For the set 2, 4, and 6, the mean is 12 divided by 3, which equals 4.
